Croatia have won the first Junior Eurovision Song Contest, held in the Danish
capital Copenhagen, on Saturday.
Dino Jelusic, an 11-year-old singer songwriter, beat children aged between eight
and 15 years old from 15 other countries with You Are My One And Only
The UK came third with My Song For The World, written and performed by
10-year-old Tom Morley, from Cumbria. Spain took second place.
Next year's contest will be held in Manchester, organisers said.
The UK's Tom Morley wrote a song about the war in Iraq
This year's contestants performed before an 8,000-strong crowd in Copenhagen,
with millions more watching live on television across the continent.
The Eurovision Song Contest has been running for almost 50 years, but this was
the first time a version had been held for young performers.
The placing of Morley's song, inspired by the war in Iraq, regained some dignity
for the UK after the country got no points in the adult contest in May.
The second-placed Spaniard Sergio Jesus Garcia Gil performed a moving tribute to
his mother, who recently died.
