a Croatian friend of mine is producing, singing and
acting in the following:

MAIA Theatre Company
Presents

A New Show by Andrew Watts

Where Are You Going?
Sketches In The City

Shakespeare Room, Wilkie House, Cowgate Central

7:10 pm (7-12 August) and 11:00 pm (13 August)

“Sketches in the City” is an hour of comedy on the art
of urban survival. From hen nights to the rat race
and from sitting on a train to standing up for what
you believe in. With a digression on the evils of
flower shops thrown in for good measure. Two guys and
two girls guide you through life in the 21st century
city.

Why come to see us? This is a brand new comedy show by
professional writer Andrew Watts drawing from his and
his friends’ experiences in life and observations of
their fellow urbanites.

The MAIA Theatre Group is a team of four individuals
with very distinct backgrounds: Mario, Annie, Iva and
Andrew. Mario Gough is a St. Helenian, one of the
5,000 inhabitants of the island of St. Helena where
Napoleon was sent for being the neighbour from hell.
Mario came to England in a desperate attempt to
broaden his horizons and widen the gene pool; with a
singular lack of imagination he hooked up with the
only other St. Helenian in London. Annie Labura is
Croatian: she served in the Croatian army and after
independence left with the rank of colonel and is now
an up-and-coming actress/singer. Critics should be
warned that she is a trained killer. Iva Dacheva is
originally from Bulgaria: she moved to the UK to
develop her dancing, singing and acting career. She
came second in a talent show on Playback, which she
considers a step-up from Bulgarian national
television. Andrew Watts has been both a monk and the
English lecturer in an all-girls’ university in Tokyo.
He preferred the latter job. He is now a journalist.

The play “Where Are You Going: Sketches in the City”
will be performed by the MAIA Theatre Company from 7
to 12 August at 19:10 and 13 August at 23:00 at the
Shakespeare Room, Wilkie House, Cowgate Central.
